What this is

makeqrco.de is a free QR code generator, barcode generator, QR code reader, bulk QR code generator, QR code size calculator, glossary and QR code image API, operated by Kyllian as a personal project. Using any part of it means you accept what follows. If you do not, do not use it — and note that the source is public, so you can always run your own copy.

The codes you create are yours

No claim is made over anything you generate. Use the PNG and SVG files commercially or otherwise, without attribution and without a licence fee. You are responsible for what you encode, including whether you have the right to use a logo you overlay on a code and whether a retail barcode number is actually allocated to you.

No warranty

Everything here is provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind. Nothing guarantees that a generated code will scan on a particular reader, that a symbology is the right one for your use case, or that the site will be available at any given moment. Verify a code by scanning it with a real device before you print a thousand of them.

Two specific limitations are worth repeating: SVG shape masking removes part of a barcode's encoded data and produces artwork that is not readable by design, and the image API defaults to 512×512 black-on-white at error correction level M — size, margin, colours, error correction and format are query parameters, but a logo overlay is not available through the API.

Fair use of the API

The image API is unauthenticated because rate limiting and API keys would spoil it for the people using it properly. Use it to embed codes in documents, pages, dashboards and emails. Do not use it as a bulk rendering farm — the browser-side bulk QR code generator exists for that — and do not build a product whose core function is proxying it. Traffic that threatens the service may be blocked without notice, and the underlying library runs perfectly well on your own hardware if you need that volume.

Acceptable use

Do not use this site to encode links to malware, phishing pages or content that is illegal where you are. Do not attempt to disrupt the service or to probe it for vulnerabilities without getting in touch first. Nothing that passes through the URL routes is stored, so there is no archive to take down — but a report of abuse is still welcome and may result in a block.

Availability and changes

There is no service level agreement and no uptime commitment. Features may change or be withdrawn, and these terms may be updated; the date at the top of the page reflects the last change. Questions go to hello@makeqrco.de.
